Join us at the Ohio Genealogical Society tomorrow morning, Friday, April 15th, at 10:00 AM to start off our Summer of Learning with a free class by OGS Library Director Tom Neel - "A Visit to the Cemetery". We'll take a look at tombstones - recording, preservation, care, symbolism, and much more. The 2-hour class is free, but put your name on the list by called the library 419-886-1903 or by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org And yes, all the snow has melted and we are calling for a near 70 degree day to celebrate!

The Ohio Genealogical Society is proud to announce the winners of its 2016 Writing Contest. Entrants submitted articles for either the Ohio Genealogy News (OGN) or the Ohio Genealogical Society Quarterly (OSGQ).
The Society would like to congratulate the following authors for their excellent writing. We thank each author who chose to share their expertise and family lines with others by entering the contest. At the discretion of the OGN and OGSQ editors, all entries may be published.
The overall winner is Jeremiah Edwards for his OGSQ article, “Dry Bones”. Jeremiah will receive the top prize of $50.
Winners in the OGN category are:
First Place to Loretta Evans, CG for her article, “Finding Female Ancestors”. She will receive $25.
Second Place also goes to Loretta Evans, CG for her article “The Luse Family Reunion Book”. She will receive a $15 prize.
Winners in the OGSQ category are:
First Place to Sharon Alwart for her article “Dwight Stephens: From Small Town Lima, Ohio to the Wild West”. Sharon will receive $25.
Second Place goes to Betty Lou Malesky for her article “Reuben Farley, Early American Preacher”. She will receive a $15 prize.
